Abstract

Field work was carried out from mid-July to mid-September using a 22 foot boat hired from Innuterssuak Uvdloriak of Siorapaluk. Field assistance was given by Kakutsiak, Butdlak, Usakak and Naduk Uvdloriak. A reconnaissance was made along 500 km of coastline between Inglefield Bredning and Inglefield Land (figs 1 and 3). Pack ice stopped northerly progress south af Kap Hatherton (78°25'N). A review of work carried out by others, including P. Schei, L. Koch, R. Bentham, S. Munck, J. C. Troelsen and J. W. Cowie, is reserved for a later paper.
