Abstract

The Archaean gneiss complex of the north-western part of the 1:100000 scale Isukasia map sheet region comprises predominantly of high-grade basic, intermediate and add metaigneous gneisses. Relict intrusive relationships clearly indicate the relative ages of most of the composite magmatic episodes. However, some relationships are not obvious and a geochemical reconnaissance has been made in an attempt to elucidate whether or nor any of the various units are genetically related. Since it is the preserved igneous geochemical affinities which are under investigation, the prefix 'meta' which should be applied to all of the lithologies is omitted.
