Sm-Nd model ages for ten basement gneisses and intrusive rocks from the Skjoldungen area in South-East Greenland range from 2.73 to 2.91 Ga. Two rocks yielded older ages: a high-grade metasedimentary rock (2.96 Ga) and a pegmatite (3.13 Ga). Sm-Nd data are now available for a more than 700 km long stretch of the south-east coast of Greenland between 63° and 68°N. No evidence has been found for the presence of early Archaean (> 3.5 Ga) rocks, and early Proterozoic gneisses have only been found in the Ammassalik area (65° 30'N).
